Shawn McAllister

Shawn McAllister worked as a Fire Protection and Safety Technician until 1999 at which point he moved into the high-tech industry working for well known companies such as JDS Uniphase, Nortel, and Alcatel (formerly Newbridge). Working in this industry was great until the crash in 2001, which lead to layoffs. Unable to find work at the time he made a career change into the sales industry in 2002 working with one of the largest distributorships worldwide.

After experiencing organizational change and layoffs in different industries, Shawn began to think about the issue of job security. He went back to an old book he had read on real estate considering this as a career. After reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad, Shawn realized that the real money is made by the investor rather than the real estate representative. He has attended Rich Dad/Whitney courses and became a member of other real estate organizations including PREIG. In attending the courses he came across OREIO in early 2008 and has been involved ever since. Shawn is currently the Membership Coordinator for OREIO.

Although Shawn has yet to own any investment properties he has valued the education that OREIO has provided him and still continues to look and make offers as well as bird-dog and assign properties to potential investors. He currently works as an associate with PPL Legal Care of Canada on a part time basis and can be found sometimes reading and sipping a coffee at Chapters/Starbucks South Keys.
