Thank you for visiting.
Hi everyone,
As you know, my term as President of OREIO is coming to an end in May and I am reaching out to tell you why you should consider running for President. Here is my TOP 10 LIST of reasons why you want to be President:
1. VISIBILITY - When you stand in front of the membership every month, people get to know your name and your face. Get known. It's hard to attract good deals if no one knows you. Being President is an excellent way to get known.
2. POLISH YOUR PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILLS - Speaking in front of a group typically ranks as one of people's greatest fears. However, if you want to get really good at attracting Joint Venture capital, you're going to have to develop much of the skills required to run a meeting. I will guarantee you that after one year of running the OREIO meetings your skills will improve and your fears (if any) will most likely have evaporated.
3. CREDIBILITY - If you're looking for greater credibility when attracting Joint Venture partners or investors, it helps to be able to say that you are/were President of OREIO, a group consisting of more than 200 investors and real estate professionals.
4. REPUTATION BUILDING - How you run the organization will be a reflection of how you do business. If you want people to know that you are a person of integrity, then step up and run the group with professionalism and honesty. Your actions and successes will enhance your reputation. And in this business, reputation is everything.
5. EXPERIENCE IN A LEADERSHIP POSITION - As President, you will not only set the vision for OREIO for the coming year, but you will also work closely with the rest of the Executive to carry out the plan you set forward. This kind of leadership experience is invaluable in all aspects of business.
6. STRATEGIC ALLIANCES - As leader of the organization, you will be working closely with other real estate professionals and you will likely create win-win alliances as a result.
7. CALLS RETURNED QUICKLY - When you leave a message with a real estate professional and mention that you're the President of a local investors organization, your calls get returned very quickly!
8. THE VIEW - There's a great view from the dais at the front of the room. You ought to check it out.
9. MORE TIME WITH GUEST SPEAKERS - As President, you will work closely with the Speaker Coordinator to select great speakers for the group and you will also have the opportunity to spend time with them before and sometimes after the meeting as well. That gives you a chance to get to know them better and perhaps have some one-on-one time to have your questions answered. It's a terrific, built-in networking opportunity.
10. CHALLENGE YOURSELF - Ask yourself, what are you doing this year to take your life to the next level? The most successful people in life constantly challenge themselves to greater heights. So I challenge you to lead OREIO for the next year! You will learn a great deal and broaden your business opportunities.
You can email me at president@oreio.org to let me know that you'll run.
Happy Easter and Chag Sameach,
Doris Belland
