Hi there!

We are considering a reno to a 4 bedroom back-split home to make 2-3bedroom units for student rental. The city planning department would like to see a scaled drawing of the home and details of walls/ceiling materials in order to approve adequate fire separation. We are concerned about cost if we have to double up drywall on walls and ceilings to be legal. We do not want to take on liability if there was a fire. Has anyone completed a similar reno before? If you have, we would appreciate talking to you for advise.
