A Night of Real Estate Insights: OREIO Presents Erin O’Connell, Brian Casagrande – MCIP, RPP and Lisa Dalla Rosa – MCIP, RPP!

We are delighted to extend an invitation to you for a highly informative real estate event, scheduled for November 8th at the Infinity Center in Ottawa. The event registration and networking will begin at 6:00 PM, and the program will commence promptly at 7:00 PM.

Our esteemed speakers, Erin, a senior planner from the City of Ottawa, along with Brian Casagrande and Lisa Dalla Rosa from Fotenn Planning and Design, will be sharing their invaluable expertise and insights on the evolving landscape of land use planning and recent regulatory changes in Ottawa.

Erin will provide a comprehensive understanding of the development review process, recent provincial changes affecting the development review process, and effective strategies for engaging with the City during the development process.

Following this, Brian and Lisa will delve into the latest changes impacting land use planning in Ottawa, including the implications of the new Official Plan and key legislative bills like Bills 23, 97, and 109. They will discuss crucial adjustments related to parkland, community benefits, development charges, rental units, and the proposed changes to the Provincial Policy Statement, providing valuable foresight into the future of planning in the province.

Erin O’Connell

Erin O’Connell is a senior planner in the development review group of the City of Ottawa. Erin has worked as a professional urban planner in both the private and public sectors. Over the past 15 years, she has worked on the review of several controversial and complex development applications in Ottawa.

Erin particularly enjoys working on the interface between the public realm and private buildings and the intricacies of streetscape design. She has also led numerous tours on foot and by bike around Ottawa, is a past contributor to Spacing Ottawa, led planning primer courses, and been a guest lecturer at the University of Ottawa on planning in the city. Erin holds an Urban Design Certificate from Simon Fraser University, as well as a Masters of Planning from Queen’s University.

Brian Casagrande – MCIP, RPP

Partner at Fotenn Planning and Design in the Ottawa office. With extensive experience in land use, development, and municipal planning in Canada and the US, Brian has a detailed understanding of municipal processes and the elements that influence planning decisions. Brian effectively provides clients with sound planning and urban design advice and strategic direction. He leads land development projects by, coordinating interdisciplinary teams, implementing public consultation strategies, and negotiating with approval agencies. He is particularly experienced in urban infill and in providing witness testimony at the Ontario Land Tribunal.

Lisa Dalla Rosa – MCIP, RPP

Lisa is an Associate at Fotenn’s Ottawa office with over 15 years of experience in land development and policy planning. Lisa has managed the development process from land acquisition to concept creation through to approvals and build-out. This has required coordinating both public and private sector interests to

realize the goal and vision of a plan. She has obtained experience working on Minor Variance, Consent, Subdivisions, Part-Lot Control, Zoning By-law Amendment, and Official Plan Amendment applications. As a member of the Greater Ottawa Homebuilder Builder Development Council she stays up to date and participates in meaningful discussions about policy changes related to land development.
