    Hello Mario,

And thank you for the questions.  Although I believe some of those questions are irrelevant to the Secretary role, I will happy expand on my bio.  Please accept this revised bio to give you a better idea as to who I am.  (Note: I posted the same bio under Brad's earlier thread, so save yourself some time if you have already read the other)

    Bio:

My name is Jacob Holmer and I am an accomplished Professional Engineer, career project manager, real estate investor, and husband.

I have been working in the industries of engineering and construction for over 10 years, having delivered projects involving building life cycle maintenance, custom outfitting of trucks and shipping containers, modernization of elevators, and duplex conversions.  Today, I currently manage several multi-million dollar commercial construction projects on the Tunney’s Pasture campus in Ottawa.  I have delivered projects for past clients such as BGIS, Manulife Financial, Carleton University, the Department of National Defense, and Public Works to name a few.

In 2017, my wife immigrated to Canada from France, where we decided she would open her business in photograph conservation.  I chose to serve an active role in support her business in two key ways: administratively as I have experience contributing to the business direction of two medium sized enterprises, and financially as we decided together that we would live off of one salary and reinvest her income into the company.

In 2019, I founded Holmer Real Estate Investments, a firm who provides a hands-off real estate investment solution to help families who are unprepared financially for retirement.  Inspired by my own parents’ struggle with retirement, I now help others who have been hurt by the volatility of mutual funds.

I love to teach, hence why I am so passionate in OREIO’s mission to inspire and educate.  OREIO has been good to me, and now I would like to give back by applying my project management experience to help moderate the board meetings, advocate the organization to the public, and deliver a modern OREIO.

On a personal note, I love to exercise and strongly believe that success starts with taking care of one’s self.  Before the lockdown, my wife and I were often found salsa dancing, rock climbing, and doing yoga, and I strive to maintain a reputation of being honest and accountable.

Thank you for accepting my nomination for the role of Secretary.  OREIO has embarked on the great task of evolving our beloved organization and I look forward contributing to this transition.

    Sincerely,

    Jacob Holmer, P.Eng.

    Hi Jacob

I would like to ask you a few questions about your post,

    1) Just to be clear, you nominated yourself ... correct ?

    2)  How many years have you been an OREIO member?

    3)  How many investment properties have you closed on or own ?

    4) Do you currently serve on any boards ?

    Thanks for your time ...

    Dear OREIO Members,

I am happy to announce that I have been nominated for the Secretary role for the upcoming OREIO board of executives election.

OREIO, to me, is a group where all levels of investors have an opportunity to network and learn, without "sales" pressure, and at an affordable rate. I do believe that the organization needs to evolve, but not at the sake of the fundamentals that make OREIO so important to us.

I am an accomplished Professional Engineer and Project Manager.   I have spent my entire career in project management and currently manage several multi-million dollar commercial construction projects for the Federal Government.  I have delivered exceptional projects for clients such as BGIS, Manulife, the Department of National Defense, and Public Services and Procurement Canada to name a few.

As Secretary and member of the Executive, I will be applying my project management experience in leading, guiding, and recording board meetings to ensure that OREIO's transition aligns with our beliefs. The Executive has a duty to deliver this transition with transparency, integrity, and accountability, and I hope to contribute to those values.

If these statements align with your values, please share this post with other OREIO members. We need good people for this next chapter and I will not disappoint.

My name is Jacob Holmer and I thank you for your support.
