    Hi y'All

    +June COVID report

This is latest guidance for report on the COVID-19 June 2020 from our working group.  It has more complied economic outlook information from OECD, Bank of Canada and CMHC than the previous reports.  We've included previous reports for just reference.

    +Analysis and Clarity

The work of the executive is much more than any defined job description.  Most candidates are qualified and dedicated enough to complete those tasks as listed.  This is the guidance I wish to bring to OREIO.  This is what we need from the executive this year:

    1.  With our transitional year, it will be important to bring analysis and clarity to an agile executive model.  Developing a mutual trust with membership through reporting and committee liaisons will cut down on misunderstandings and bad information flow.

    2.  We will establish organizational objectives with the membership at the beginning of the year. We will agree upon this direction and prioritize items/tasks prior to embarking the programs.

    2. Project and platform execution will be completed by assigned executives and members, (small project groups).  It will be crucial to restrict the number of people involved in order to maintain efficiency, responsibility and project direction.  This will give development the space and freedom for people to execute.

    3.  Reporting and feedback will be kept to minimum but it shall be through and complete and always done by the same team member.  We will establishing proper scheduling and measurable metrics prior to project execution.

    4.  A quarterly cost review should be undertaken to see what has been spent on programs, but also what will be spent at program conclusion.  If funds beyond minimum reserve fund threshold is not spent, additional programs or assets should be acquired to benefit the membership of that calendar year.

    5. Any programs and schedules developed must be simple and flexible for making changes as membership requires.

    6.  We can develop for robust information and data exchange on the Ottawa market.  We have a knowledgeable membership with analysts.  We need to invest some time and effort in creating this library archive and research community.

This will be a great year at OREIO.

    Please remember to vote.

    +Programming and Increased Membership

These are all excellent ideas we are getting on the forum from members and candidates.  The possibilities of growth are great as well as possibly negative.  I don't doubt the sincerity of candidate's platforms, they are well thought out and through.

A simple question, maybe out of place in light of past months' events but I ask it honestly:  What Now?

    + Moving Forward Challenges

Our upcoming year will be a challenge to all community groups and organizations with the change in social gatherings.  It will require the executive and the grassroots membership to step up and reach out.

While we can look at a business retool we also need to be pragmatic in the choices of how we spend our resources of time and program development.  We are in tough times right now.  Everyone is looking for guidance and community.  How should we serve our community is the question.

We can leverage existing OREIO assets and review/renew previous assets in order to redefine an 'online' OREIO experience.  I believe these are the most pressing challenges that face OREIO currently.

Do we need to invest more in online speaker production,  better scheduling and scripting of meeting (due to less audience feedback). What value can be developed now that serves in a post covid Ottawa?

Governments and financial institution are retooling and augmenting in the face of a new economy/debt increase.  Do we have a network to speak for us as stakeholders in real estate.  Can we become this robust organization?

Is it required we have an inner restructure of the organization right now?

If you have questions or comments on canadiate platforms, I encourage you to to feel free to leave replies.  This is a critical time in OREIO's calendar.  You can help shape our policy in these next 12 months now.
