    Thanks for the question Allen.

This is a difficult question to answer as I can't recall the last time we had such an active participation in the election process.

Most positions are acclaimed and occaisionally we have the odd posisiton that a couple peoeple vie for and there is a quick paper vote and the annoucement is made at the end of the meeting.

This year I am encouraged that there were several positions and much debate. A much welcome change.

I would estiamte (I don't have access to historical member attendance for May) that there is a typical turn out, unless there is a speaker of special interest to the club, for any election event at OREIO. It's always held after the break and many people leave, likely as most of the positions have been filled.

I have no idea what the counts would be as we have never recorded these numbers only the winners.

If we do this online again, then yes, it will be interesting to see if the participaiton changes.

    Cheers

    JRW

Is a member of the executive able to disclose how the 45.6% voter participation (171 out of 375 members) compares to previous years?  Is this information available?  I am curious how this first time of electronic voting fared in terms of voter turn-out.

Completely agree! I think in the end that is the big win. My hope now is to build on the great ideas put forward including yours.

Thanks to all who put great energy into their campaigns! You all made this organization stronger and I hope that we can count on you to help in other ways with the group!

Thank you John for sharing the results.  I think everyone should be proud for stepping up and offering their time to help move this organization forward.  This is the first time in a long time that there were this many engaged parties and that is a win in itself  :)

    Tony et al,

Historically, the votes and counts have not been disclosed to the membership nor the candidates and not officially recorded.

The goal here was to avoid embarassing anyone with a low vote count, with the hopes of encouraging folks to volunteer for positions.

We also haven't had an online vote before, so we're into new territory.

I've asked the executive for their input and have received mixed response.

I'm deciding to publish the results and request clarification from the next executive board on what the best practice should be going forward.

These are the audited results of the election.

    171 total votes received.

    OREIO President

    Victor Menasce - 84

    Tony Miller - 56

Brad, will you sharing the vote breakdown for each position? I'm interested in seeing the vote breakdown for president.
